Opening Day at Cedar Point, 1968

This picture, from the Thomas F. Root collection of aerial photographs, taken between 1949 and 2000, shows a view of the Midway at Cedar Point on May 25, 1968. For opening day, four thousand high school band members marched through the Midway. The New Christy Minstrels performed, and there was a fireworks display after dark. You can see the Mill Race and Turnpike Cars on the left side of the picture, and the Coliseum and KiddieLandon the right side of the picture.
